Questions about Pure Silk
What can I make with Pure Silk?
Knitting for Olive Pure Silk has a soft feel and a natural texture. Its ability to absorb moisture and regulate temperature makes it comfortable for summer clothing while still providing warmth in cooler weather.
What is this yarn made from?
100% silk, Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
What weight and length does it come in?
The supplied yarn weight is 50 g, with approximately 250 m. Use the length as well as the weight when comparing yarns.
Which needle size should I use?
The recommended knitting needle size is 3 mm. Knit a swatch and adjust the needles to match your pattern’s gauge.
What knitting gauge should I expect?
10 x 10 cm = 28 stitches x 38 rows. This is a guide; check your own swatch against the pattern.
How do I work out how much yarn to order?
For a single-strand project, divide the pattern’s total required metres by 250 m and round up to a whole number of units. If you are changing yarns or holding strands together, recalculate the total length and check gauge.
How should I wash the finished piece?
Hand wash in cool water.
Can I hold it together with another yarn?
Use a pattern designed for the combined strands, or swatch first to check the gauge and feel. Holding yarns together changes the fabric and the amount you need. Follow the most delicate yarn’s care instructions.
Should I buy the full project quantity at once?
Plan the full quantity before ordering. The same shade code can look slightly different across dye batches, so check the lot numbers on the labels. A later purchase may come from a different batch.
How do I choose a shade from the photos?
Choose a shade of Pure Silk by its name and code. Screen settings and lighting can change how the colour appears; keep the code when checking or reordering your chosen shade.
